If you remember, back in March a sculptor named Emanuel Santos hit headlines all across the world for his masterpiece art on Cristiano Ronaldo which was unveiled in Madeira airport.
The bronze bust of Ronaldo went viral across all social media across the world as people were perplexed after seeing the art as it hardly resembled the 32-year old forward.
Well, if you thought that would be it then you are wrong. The artist, Emanuel Santos is back again thanks to Paddy Power as he has now managed to create a bust of Welsh superstar Gareth Bale.
His second offering is also drawing lot of interest as his Gareth Bale bust is now installed outside the iconic Principality stadium in Cardiff, Wales ahead of the Champions League final on Saturday.
However, the statue looks more like Danny Trejo to be honest than Gareth Bale to us and Santos is becoming viral yet again.
Paddy Power bookmakers have commissioned the piece ahead of Champions League final and it took 264 hours to complete the bust for Santos. The art is much more heavier than Cristiano Ronaldo’s one as it is around 40kg and is valued at a staggering £25,000.
It reportedly took one week for Santos to create the sculpture of Bale from clay as he managed to derive an idea on his art from the photos of Gareth Bale in all possible angles. The additional hair to Bale’s bust have increased the weight of the statue than Cristiano Ronaldo and the artist had less pressure in developing his second statue compared to Ronaldo’s one as the latter was unveiled as the airport was named after the Portuguese superstar.
On the artwork, Santos claimed: “I’m very happy. I feel very proud of it. For me, it’s an honour to make Gareth Bale because he’s a great player.”
Both Ronaldo and Gareth Bale will be travelling to Cardiff to face Juventus in the Champions League final on Saturday as Real Madrid eye to become the first club to win back to back European titles for the first time since AC Milan in 1989 and 1990.
