Crystal Palace are eyeing a loan deal for young Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, according to reports. The newly appointed Eagles manager Frank de Boer is looking to sign a new centre back for the upcoming season.
The club are not keen to meet Liverpool’s massive £30million asking price for Mamadou Sakho as they are looking for other options in the market. The Reds defender had an impressive spell with Crystal Palace last season after joining them in January window.
Daily Mirror claims that the Eagles are looking to sign Kurt Zouma on a temporary deal for next season with the Frenchman unsure over his future at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year old had suffered a horrific injury during the end of 2015/16 season and had failed to manage an impression under Conte last season. He is below the likes of David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order for the centre back as the trio are expected to be the front runners to start for the club.
Conte is also looking to make the signing of Virgil van Dijk as one of his primary targets for the summer which could put the Frenchman further down the order going into the new season.
Crystal Palace is confident of sealing a loan deal for Zouma but the player is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge to make a name for himself this season.
Zouma said: “I’m very happy at Chelsea. I hear the rumours, it’s flattering. It means I’m a player people are looking at, but I’m not going to stop there.
“My objective is to stay at Chelsea. Next season, we’ll start from scratch, there will be a lot of games.”
The move could be a real good opportunity for Zouma for his development as he can assured of plenty of playing time in Premier League. However, it remains to be seen if Conte will let the player leave on loan as the Blues are set to play in Champions League once again next season.
