Manchester United’s back to back Player of the Year David De Gea’s future has been one of the most discussed names in the transfer market this season. With a huge interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Manchester United’s stubbornness to sell the shot stopper, the situation is very complicated right now at Old Trafford.

Yesterday English media claimed that Louis vsan Gaal will not pick De Gea for the season opener against Tottenham on Saturday 8th August.

Reports of De Gea not being with the Red Devils first team in the hotel also came out yesterday night.

Sam Johnstone was set to start against Spurs under the bar ahead of newcomer Sergio Romero according to English media.

However, Spanish top journalist Guillem Balague has claimed that ‘despite what had been published in English newspapers’ Louis van Gaal would pick De Gea against Tottenham.

De Gea hadn’t asked to be left out, and Van Gaal has ‘no doubt’ who his first choice would be and intended to choose his strongest possible team for the match at Old Trafford: ‘Nothing suggests then, that De Gea is going to be on the bench.’

Spanish daily AS say that Manchester United are upset with their coach because they wanted to continue to insist on keeping De Gea, but Van Gaal has now asked for a new goalkeeper, because he is tired of the circus and wants it to end quickly.

De Gea is said to be in despair at the situation but still thinks everything to be resolved and his move to Real Madrid goes through.

According to Balague, Ed Woodward will do everything in his powers to retain De Gea and would be very unhappy with the manager if De Gea is not picked for the opener against Spurs.
