The former Juventus legend was surprised that several fans of the north eastern franchise turned up in numbers to support their side. Alessandro Del Piero, Delhi Dynamos’ star striker hasn’t completed 90 minutes yet in each of the four matches he has featured in.

When asked to explain the reason he replied, “No, it’s not my fitness. I’ve played and my fitness is very good.” The northern side will be facing FC Goa, Mumbai City FC and Kerala Blasters as there next three fixtures. When asked on how tough an assignment it is to play three matches away from home, he said, “I do not know as we have to check player-by-player. I’m ready to play every game; there’s no problem for me. I can play full games.”

Del Piero was really disappointed that his team missed out on three points against NorthEast United despite dominating the proceedings.“For sure we have dropped two points today. When we play at home we have to show more courage.  We have to try our best and score one. It wasn’t (the case for us) unfortunately.”

The World Cup winner was very happy he saw over 30000 fans at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and praised the turnout for Indian Super League (ISL) games. Del Piero was seen having a conversation with Ricki Herbert, coach of NorthEast United for long after the game and the 39-year old replied that hewas really happy to say a lot to him as Ricki was the coach of Wellington Phoenix when he played for Sydney FC.

Del Piero came close to scoring twice in the first 20 minutes and he believes that if he get more time in the field more chances will come his way.

“Yes, I try to have more time inside on the pitch,” he signed off.
