Manchester United’s highly rated central defender Tyler Blackett has joined the Scottish Champions Celtic on a season long loan. Blackett, 21 who is equally comfortable playing at center back as on the left-back has been signed with Celtic’s Virgin van Dijk all set to join Southampton this summer.

Manager Louis Van Gaal has spoken highly of Blackett and started 12 games with the youngster last season, however, with Daley Blind and Chris Smalling forming an unbreakable partnership this season, Blackett’s role has been limited and thus he has sent on loan to continue his developments.

According to the club’s sources, there were several clubs interested in signing Blackett, but Celtic came out on top with Europa League’s involvements for the Scottish Champions and a healthy relation between the two clubs.

Blackett was presented to his new fans at half time during Celtic’s game against St Johnstone. Blackett earned many instant fans by claiming that he is playing for one of the best teams in the world and is honored to represent the Scottish Champions.

Manchester United are themselves looking for a defensive option before the transfer window ends with John Stones and others linked with a move to Old Trafford. Elsewhere, Felipe Anderson and Arjen Robben are the big name players to have been tipped to join Manchester United in the coming days.
