Livepool have successfully completed the transfer of striker Christian Benteke from Aston Villa for a reported fee of 32.5million.

The transfer has been circulating for a number of weeks now, the only issue was an agreement over the transfer fee between two clubs. Eventually, Liverpool decided to pay the full release clause amount for the striker and bring him to Anfield.

Following the transfer, Benteke becomes the second most expencive signing in Liverpool’s history following the not-so-successful 35millio transfer of striker Andy Carroll from Newcastle United.

Benteke, 24 is regarded as one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League and will be a great addition to the Liverpool’s squad. Brendan Rodgers struggled for goals last season following Luis Suarez’s sale and inconsistent form of Daniel Sturridge.

New signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert failed to live up to the expectations which saw the Reds finish 6th in Premier League table.

However, this season, Brendan Rodgers has been a step ahead of his rival managers as he has already signed 7 players which will be expected to feature in the starting XI for most number of games.
