Manchester United have hired Brazilian scout Sandro Orlandelli, reports in South America claim.

Jose Mourinho has been looking to add quality new staff members to United’s setup and he has added the former Arsenal scout to his ranks.

Orlandelli was working at the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) but he left his role just before the Rio Olympics in 2016.

And now he will take up a position with Man United, according to Lance.

The Brazilian previously worked with Arsene Wenger as a South American scout and his role will be familiar at United.

He has also gained experience working as Atletico Paranaense’s football director as well as being involved in scouting projects at Santos.

Orlandelli is Mourinho’s second scouting appointment since his arrival at the club, following Danish scout Tommy Moller Nielsen through the door.

Both are impressive additions for the club and will undoubtedly strengthen United’s scouting network.

Yesterday Daily Mail reported that Mourinho met super-agent Jorge Mendes in Manchester to discuss Manchester United’s transfer policy.

The Portuguese is represented by Mendes, who helped broker his move to replace Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager in May. It is believed the decision to appoint Sandro was made during that meeting.

United have mainly dealt with fellow high-profile agent Mino Raiola this summer, going through him to sign Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Henkrikh Mkhitaryan.

But while United have splashed out around £150m on those three stars and defender Eric Bailly, Mourinho still wants more signings.

The Old Trafford hierarchy have indicated that the club’s transfer business has been done, but Mourinho is keen to bolster his defence.

Monaco right-back Fabinho and Southampton centre-back Jose Fonte are wanted by the Portuguese boss, with a number of the club’s current defenders under threat.

Squad players like Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo, and Phil Jones are facing uncertain long-term futures, while Chris Smalling has yet to start under Mourinho.
