Chelsea’s player of the year Eden Hazard has earmarked the ideal striker signing for Jose Mourinho and Chelsea. Hazard wants his fellow Belgian Christian Benteke to join him at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard is currently on international duty with Belgium and the recently crowned Premier League winner was speaking to the press about the possibility of Benteke being a Chelsea player next season.
Hazard said: “If Christian signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world,” Hazard told reporters in Belgium.
“I have a great relationship with him and would like nothing better than to play with him. Christian is 25. He is at an age where he has to make a good career choice.
“Not that Aston Villa is a small club but he has already played many great games and can now play in the Champions League.”
Chelsea anyhow need a striker to have a greater chance of retaining their Premier League title next season. Didier Drogba has already decided to leave the club and Loic Remy’s days at Chelsea are numbered.
Considering that, perhaps Hazard indeed knows what he is suggesting to the Special one.
However, Chelsea won’t get Benteke at a lower fee. The Belgian striker had recently revealed the 32.5million buyout clause attached to his contract.
Benteke has also been linked with a move with Liverpool while Chelsea themselves are believed to be closing on the signing of Radamel Falcao on loan from AS Monaco.
Taking all of these situations in to context, Chelsea’s striker signing next season would be a keen topic to keep a close eye on.
