Former Spurs and Barcelona star Gay Linekar hailed Liverpool Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho for the stunning goal against Stoke City which earned the Reds all the three points in the season opener.
After a humiliating 6-1 defeat to the Potters at Britannia Stadium, Reds opened their 2015-16 campaign against them. Although, it was not a total revenge from the disappointing loss 77 days ago, they managed to start the season with a win.
Liverpool could not impress in the season opener while Stoke had the better chances to score. The match was heading to a 0-0 draw. However, Liverpool’s Little Magician thought otherwise.
On the 86th minute of the match, Coutinho scored from the stunner from outside of the box and won the match for his club on his own.

Rodgers admitted after the game that he was about to take the Brazilian off the field prior to his match-winning strike, as per Goal.com
But the Reds boss was clearly relieved that he didn’t take him off. Coutinho used his trademark quick movement to cut inside to a more central position on the edge of the box; opening up his body shape up, the Brazilian then smashed the ball high into the top right-hand corner.
