Borussia Monchengladbach’s highly rated midfielder Granit Xhaka has revealed that he is open to joining an elite club and his comments have reignited the speculations linking him to Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

However, the German club’s sporting director Max Eberl told in an interview with WDR2 radio at the weekend that 23-year-old Swiss international would not be sold this January but also said they might let go him at the end of this season if a sufficient offer comes.

Bild earlier reported that three Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool along with Bayern are heavily interested despite the Switzerland international’s €30 million release clause which is due to become active in 2017 summer.

The German tabloid also suggested an offer of €40m would be enough to persuade Gladbach to sell the player, and Xhaka has now indicated he would consider a transfer offer if he is given promise over first-team football.

“Gladbach’s a top club, but if I were to join a top, top, top club one day, I would want to play there,” he told Bild. “I am not a guy for the bench.”

Xhaka, who joined Gladbach leaving Basel in 2012, has been central to the club’s emergence under Andre Schubert for the last few months but there are lot of questions over his temperament, with the player having been sent off as many as  three times in the 2015-16 season playing 23 matches till now.

Arsene Wenger is currently enduring a tremendous loss of players to injuries especially in the midfield department where first choice players Cazorla, Sanchez, Coquelin and Wilshere are currently out of action and with Arteta only just returning to the squad. He already signed Egyptian midfielder Elneny to bolster his midfield options but that seems not enough as he is still chasing Xhaka and Adrian Rabiot after long time target Aubameyang ruled out any move to Emirates.

A growing number of injuries have bought Liverpool boss Klopp also under severe pressure as the German manager has revealed that he needs to spend in January to keep their hopes high for the season. With Marco Grujic already snatched, Liverpool also targeted a highly rated midfield option like Xhaka.
