The Boxing Day this year produced some astonishing football in the Premier League with most teams finding it hard to take away all three points. The League this season has been un-predictable and the Boxing Day proved yet again that the EPL is the most competitive league in Europe.

There were a number of brilliant individual performances that entertained fans from all over the world. Here is the Team of the Week for the fixtures on Boxing Day:

Goal Keeper:

Tim Howard (Everton):

The shot stopper did extremely well to keep out a number of attacks from the Magpies and his crucial save in the dying minutes led to a goal at the other end.

Defense:

Cuco Martina (Southampton):

Scored a contender for the goal of the season to open the scoring at St Marys against Arsenal and was also instrumental in keeping a clean sheet as he reduced Arsenal’s attacking threat to a bare minimum.

Jose Fonte (Southampton):

Found form against Arsenal after disappointing game in the past few weeks. Fonte was superb at the back as he never allowed Arsenal any space and also got himself a goal with a thumping header at the other end.

Dejan Lovren (Liverpool):

The man of the match on the night as Leicester City were beaten by Liverpool, Lovren was at the heart of a solid defensive performance from the home side who became the first team to prevent Leicester from scoring this season.

Aaron Cresswell (West Ham United):

Was instrumental in every attack for the Hammers against Aston Villa in the 1-1 draw and was also the goal scorer for West Ham on the night.

Mid-field:

Marko Arnautovic (Stoke City):

Scored a screamer against Manchester United in the 2-0 victory and was impressive throughout the game with his positive play in the final third. Could have easily got himself a hat-trick if it was not for David de Gea in between the posts.

Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City):

The best player for City in their 4-1 thumping against Sunderland, the Belgian picked up two assists and a goal on the night as he was simply un-playable in the middle of the park for the Citizens.

Moussa Dembele (Tottenham Hotspur):

Dominated the mid-field area in the 3-0 victory against Norwich City as he was relentless in his pressing and was also superb with his distribution from the back.

Attack:

Diego Costa (Chelsea):

Opened the scoring for the home team against Watford in the 2-2 draw and was a thorn in the flesh for the back four of Watford as he was full of energy on the night.

Shane Long (Southampton):

Got himself two goals against an Arsenal side that just did not show up at the St Marys. Long was also in the middle of every good move in the final third for Southampton as he led his side to a 4-0 victory.

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur):

Was impressive in general play for Spurs against Norwich City and also bagged a brace with a cool finish from the spot and an extra-ordinary goal from a difficult angle. Kane is surely back to form now for the Whites.
