Roberto Martinez’s side have played some good football this season but find themselves at least 4 places away from where they ideally want to be at this stage of the season.

With the team already gelling well, the Merseysiders do not need too many additions to the squad but are a bit light in options up front.

They let Steven Naismith move to Carrow Road earlier this month and are now looking to complete a deal for in-form Russian Premier League striker Oumar Niasse as per reports from the Sky Sports.

The Lokomotiv Moscow forward has been in the scintillating form off late scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in 21 matches.

He was also voted player of the year in the Russian Premier League and it is understood that Everton are keen on bringing him to England before the end of the January transfer window.

Roberto Martinez after the sale of Naismith has just two recognized forwards in Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone and a powerful addition to the front line will give the manager some options up front for the remainder of the season.

Everton have already completed their first signing of the window after announcing that Swiss forward Shani Tarashaj will make a move to Goodison Park next summer after being loaned back to the Grasshoppers after a deal was stuck.

Everton find themselves 12th in the table and need some consistent results to get into the top half of the table.
