Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves has been critical on Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. The 33-year old has claimed that the Spaniard ‘didn’t achieve that much’ during his time at Sevilla.
Both Ramos and Dani Alves were teammates at Sevilla before the former had made a move to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2005. Meanwhile, Dani Alves has stayed longer at the club before signing for Barcelona in 2008.
The Juventus defender had won two UEFA Cups, the Super Cup, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup with Sevilla and his former teammate Ramos won nothing during his time with the Spanish club.
“Ramos to be frank didn’t achieve that much at Sevilla to not celebrate goals or to ask for forgiveness when scoring,’ Alves told Spain’s ABC.
“I was there for six years and won plenty of titles.”
The Brazilian has also revealed that Ramos will always be subjected to insults and will never receive a warm welcome from the fans of Sevilla due to the way he left the club for Real Madrid in 2005.
“I think it’s totally wrong that Ramos is subjected to insults, but at the same time he may not be in a position to make these demands from the fans regarding respect,” he said.
“Just a few days before moving to Real Madrid, Ramos declared eternal love for Sevilla and that is the root problem of the ire that the fans hold towards Ramos. He’s still hostage to those words.”
Both the players had soon become the best in their respective positions during their time at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.
Dani Alves left for Juventus on a free transfer earlier this summer and have taken a dig at his former club Barcelona. He has revealed that the Catalan club were ungrateful for him and has hit headlines for his sensational comments.
“They were very false and ungrateful. They did not respect me,” Alves said.
