Football or Soccer as it is called is a sport that is regarded as a religion in some parts of the world. It is the only source of livelihood for many and provides some great entertainment value as well for many around the world.
In this article, we will take a look at famous siblings who have taken the world of football by a storm in the carrers:
Mikel Alonso and Xabi Alonso:
Born in Tolosa, Spain, the Alonso brothers started their professional football career for Real Sociedad in La Liga. Mikel Alonso then moved onto Tenerife and Charlton Athletic and now plays for Real Union while Xabi Alonso, who moved to Liverpool is now considered one of the best mid-fielders in the world. He has played for Real Madrid and is now a part of Bayern Munich where he is a solid performer.
Brian Laudrup and Michael Laudrup:
The Danish brothers were talented footballers who had stellar careers in the sport. Brian Laudrup moved around Europe with several clubs before retiring at Ajax in 2000. Michael Laudrup played for the likes of Lazio, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid in his career. He also was breifly appointed as the manager of the EPL side Swansea City after retirement.
Thiago Alacantra and Rafinha Alacantra:
Brazil born midfielders Thiago and Rafinha Alacantra were both educated at La Masia. Both players are counted as one of the best in their position. The Elder brother Thiago is now a Bayern Munich player under Pep Guardiola and has great potential while Rafinha plys his trade at Barcelona where he is just settling into the squad.
Kevin Prince Boateng and Jerome Boateng:
Born in West Germany, the talented Boateng brothers were both educated in the Hertha Berlin SC academy before featuring for a number of clubs over Europe. The elder of the two, Kevin Prince has featured for the Spurs, Dortmund, AC Milan and FC Shalke but is without a team at the moment. Jerome on the other hand has featured for Manchester City before becoming a regular in the Bayern Munich squad.
Jordan Ayew and Andre Ayew:
The French born Ghanian brothers feature for two different EPL clubs at the moment. The elder of the two, Andre was a student under Marseille and made 200 appearances for the French club before moving to Swansea City while Andre moved to Lorient from Marseille and is now currently a part of the Aston Villa squad in the EPL.
Jack Charlton and Sir Bobby Charlton:
The superstars of the 60’s English Premier League era, the Charlton brothers are one of the most successful players of their time. Younger of the two Sir Bobby Charlton was educated at the Manchester United academy and made over 600 appearances for the club while Jack started and ended his career at Leeds United and was a part of the World Cup squad in 1996.
Kolo Toure and Yaya Toure:
The Toure Brothers were born in Ivory Coast and were educated at the Ivorian Club ASEC Mimosas. Kolo Toure started his career at Arsenal where he was a part of the invincible in 2004. Yaya was a part of Barcelona in a stellar career but is now playing in the mid-field for Manchester City where he has already lifted the Barclays Premier League.
Mathais Pogba, Florentin Pogba and Paul Pogba:
The triumvirate of football talent were born and bought up in France before choosing different clubs. Mathias and Florentin are twins who play for Guinea in Africa. Mathias is a part of the Spanish side Celta Vigo while Florentin is a part of Saint Ettiene of League 1. Paul Pogba is one of the hottest properties in world football and is currently a started for Juventus after making a move to Italy from Manchester Untied.
Eden Hazard and Thorgan Hazard:
The Hazard brothers were educated in French clubs Lille and Lens respectively before briefly being snatched up by Premier League club Chelsea. Thorgan could not find too much first team football at Chelsea and after a number of loan moves is now a permanent part of Borussia Monchengladbach. Eden Hazard, one of the best players in Europe at the moment is a household name right now and is linked with the likes of Real Madrid.
Gary Neville and Phil Neville:
The Manchester United bred Neville brothers were a revelation in their time. Gary the elder of the two made 400 appearances for the club and later moved on to be a TV Pundit with Sky Sports. However he is now the manager of Spain side Valencia where he is joined by Phil Neville who also made over 300 appearances for the Red Devils. Phil also moved to Everton where he made another 300 appearances before moving under his brother at Valencia.
