When Louis Van Gaal took charge of Manchester United, everybody knew that this will change the fate of the Red Devils who had performed poorly in the previous season under David Moyes.

The 2014/15 campaign for Manchester United has been disappointing so far, Van Gaal’s statistics are worse than that of his predecessor David Moyes at the same stage last year. The Red Devils who have such an impressive attacking talent have failed miserably in their defence.

So what five things do we think Louis Van Gaal should do by the end of this year?

Reviving the Home Ground Advantage

Old Trafford

If United have to move up the league table they have to win and grab all three points at home. When Manchester United lost their first season opener at home since 1972 to Swansea by 2-1 it was a shocker, making Swansea’s first league win at Old Trafford in club history.

Wining all the games at “the theatre of dreams” will bring back the fear in their opponents.  The home ground advantage of United was one of their biggest strengths of under Ferguson’s reign and Louis Van Gaal should deliver it and win the hearts of the fans.

Buying a Central Midfielder

Michael Carrick

With one most impressive attacking line ups consisting of world class Falcao, Di Maria, Van Persie and Rooney. Van Gaal needs a proper central midfielder who can pass the ball with a great vision since Michael Carrick is on the end of his carrier and Louis needs a midfielder who can fit in the shoes which Fellaini and Blind are not able to fill. Louis Van Gaal should act fast in the transfer window to sign a proper midfielder with good passing abilities, strength and vision.

Improve Defence

Luke Shaw

The defence of Manchester United is what the Dutchman should be very concerned for. Since the departure of Vidic and Ferdinand the defence is left vulnerable even after the inclusion of Luke Shaw the defence of Manchester United has been poor and has cost Van Gaal the most points.

Deciding a proper starting line-up

Di Mario and Falcao the new recruits.

Louis Van Gaal can change the current form of the Red Devils by making a perfect starting line-up and utilizing the bench strength. With a lot of players in the attacking position, the Dutchmen should probably try to make a perfect formation were all the attacking position are suitably assigned and balanced. With the arrival of Falcao and Di Maria Van Gaal should make a proper starting XI and try rotating the squad.

Bringing back United’s Identity

Bringing glory to United

Manchester United who were one of Europe’s most powerful, attacking and vibrant team under the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson has lost its unique identity under Moyes.

Scoring from long ball, fast counter attacks and goals from midfield in the last moments of the game were the qualities the Red Devils had under Ferguson.

Van Gaal who is known for his entertaining attacking style with lot of possession at his pervious clubs Barcelona and Bayern Munich is hoped to bring back the identity of the Red Devils which they have lost.
