According to French media outlet Le 10 Sport, Chelsea are leading the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos.

Manchester United and Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the 22-year old but Chelsea are favourites to sign the Brazilian, the report suggested.

However, PSG are keen to keep hold of their star defender as he is one of the best young defenders available in entire Europe. The Brazilian just came to the club after winning Olympic gold in Rio games against Germany in a dramatic penalty shootout.

The 22-year old has £47m buy-out clause in his contract and all the three clubs are willing to secure his services. The Brazilian still has three years left on his contract at PSG and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is unwilling to sell the player.

Marquinhos can also operate as right-back despite playing as a centre-back at PSG which could add much-needed depth to the defense.

Chelsea are in the market to sign a centre-back before the close of the transfer window as they are linked with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Nikola Maksimovic and few others across Europe.

The Blues have John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic and Gary Cahill as their centre-back options who are all above 30 and young Kurt Zouma but manager Conte is keen to add a more experienced young defender to freshen his defence going into the long season ahead.
