Slaven Bilic has done wonders with the Upton Park franchise this season and has accumulated a more than decent squad that has put them just two points away from a top 4 spot with 10 games to go this season.

The likes of Dimtri Payet, Manuel Lanzini, Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell have all been splendid this season and have given the club a great chance of playing European football next season when they move to the Olympic stadium leaving the Upton Park and its memories behind.

This will leave the manager with some problems this summer as he will have to improve on the depth of his squad and plug any holes that are evident this season.

And it is now understood that the London based franchise has identified Liverpool want-away star Christian Benteke as a summer target.

The Belgian international moved to Liverpool from Aston Villa last summer in a £32.5million move that has not been beneficial for either parties.

Benteke, who earns £120,000-a-week at Anfield was bought in by Brendan Rodgers who was replaced by Jurgen Klopp earlier this season. But this did not help the 25-year old has scored 8 goals in 27 appearances for the Reds.

He is a strong target man and has been a prolific goal scorer for Aston Villa even in troubling times. He has already rejected offers from China, the new super power in football and is determined to prove himself in the Premier League.

A number of English clubs are ready to pounce on the striker but the £120,000-a-week figure is understood to be scaring many away.

The Hammers, however, would only be willing to offer Benteke £80,000-a-week at most, leaving Liverpool facing the prospect of having to pay some of the 25-year-old’s wages if they want to move him on.

For now however, Benteke and his manager Jurgen Klopp are keen on making this move work with a lot to play for Liverpool from now to the end of the season.

Meanwhile, for West Ham, Marseille rising star Michy Batshuayi remains their no.1 striker target at £25m.

Do you think Benteke will fit in well at West Ham?
