This summer in world football promises to be an eye-catching one with a number of teams searching for top quality players all over Europe. There are a number of players who will be moving clubs at the end of this season making this summer’s transfer window one of the most important in recent times.
In the Premier League, the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are all looking to add some quality to their squad and are already readying deals for top transfer targets before the start of the next season.
But very few names attract more attention than Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is set to be a free agent this summer.
The 34-year old has had a stellar career in various leagues including the La Liga and the French League 1 and has already made it clear that he wants to ply his trade in one of the best leagues in the world, the Premier League.
Zlatan has a unique set of skills and is almost the perfect striker any team can have to lead their line. Though he may not be quick at 34 years of age, the Swede more than makes up for it with his ariel ability and poacher’s instinct in front of goal.
He can score some incredible goals and take any game by the scruff of its neck so it is not a surprise that a number of teams are fighting for him this summer.
And recent reports suggest that Arsene Wenger wants to add to his front line and has identified Ibrahimovic as the right man to take the club in a positive direction next season.
The manager has not been slow to praise Ibrahimovic in recent years, describing him as a “great player” and someone who “turns up with performances in the big games”.
The Mirror reports that the Paris Saint-Germain forward is interested in playing for a Premier League club despite previously suggesting he had left a move to England too late, and that his favored destination is North London with the Gunners.
What’s more, the paper suggests that Zlatan “has made it clear he wants to work with Arsene Wenger” and also that “the Frenchman is interested.”
The Emirates outfit have the likes of Giroud, Welbeck and Walcott in their armory already to lead the line but it is increasingly looking like Wenger will get rid of some his players this summer paving the way for a move for the 34-year old.
Zlatan likes to be involved in the game at every possible moment and loves to play subtle passes before scoring a maniac goal and this will sit right in with the system at Arsenal which depends on possession and build up play.
He will provide the height and strength in the box that Giroud has not been consistent with and will surely give Wenger another option in attack.
However, at 34, Zlatan is just going to be available for the one season and his wages will understandably be on the higher side.
He may also not be able to play every game in the busy schedule of the Premier League and Wenger will have to splash the cash on an impact sub as it were if he makes the move for the Sweden international.
But from the outside, Arsenal will love to have a player of Zlatan’s caliber in the squad and it will be the first time that they have a player of that status after Thierry Henry left the club.
This story is bound to become a transfer saga this summer, but if he makes the move, Arsenal will have a match winner and a player who can be the difference between winning and missing out on silverware.
Do you think Zlatan will move to the Emirates this summer?
