Manchester City are running into an exciting summer with one of the best managers in the world set to take charge of the club next season.
This leaves a lot of the players at the Etihad franchise on the brink of exit as the Spanish manager will have his own set of players he wants for his adventure in the Premier League.
Ivory Coast international and an important player on the current squad Yaya Toure will be one of the players who will be up for sale this summer but the 32-year old has revealed his plans for the future.
Toure is understood to be happy to be playing under Guardiola but the long-term future of the player is uncertain at the club. In the past, Guardiola let him out of Barcelona in 2010 and it seems highly unlikely that at his age, Toure will have an important role in City’s future.
However, the Ivory Coast international was seen embracing the Spaniards presence seconds after the tie between Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the Champions League in 2014 showing that he may still have some future at the club.
He has just a year left in his contract with the club and it is highly unlikely that City will let him leave the club on a free transfer.
This will see the midfielder up for sale in the transfer window this summer.
Toure has already been approached by the Chinese Super League franchises and also by Italian giants Inter Milan, but the 32-year old is keen on a move to a Premier League club next season.
Manchester City will be aware of the pitfalls of selling him to a direct rival but the midfielder who has won all the domestic titles in England will attract a lot of interests from top sides in England.
Toure has scored 8 goals for City this season and is still an important part of Pellegrini’s plans this season. The manager also spoke about the temperament of the midfielder who scored the winning penalty in the League Cup final against Liverpool this year.
However, his season has been hampered by a number of injuries and he has just not been able to find a consistent run of good form.
It will be interesting to see how the Manchester City board works things out with Toure but if he is up for sale, he will surely be snapped up by one of the top sides in the league.
But for the moment, he will have to concentrate on this season and help his team to a strong finish in the league and also in Europe.
