Amidst a below-par season for the Premier League Champions, there is finally something to cheer about for all Red Devils. Juan Mata has been signed by Manchester United today for a fee believed to be in the range of 37Million British Pounds, making him the most expensive signing for the Red Devils ever.

The deal which is equivalent to around 45M Euros will see the 25-yr old Spanish player join Manchester United on a four-and-a-half year deal with a contract which will see him earn 150,000-a-week. The out-of-favor midfielder at Chelsea was understandably frustrated at Stanford Bridge having been benched almost throughout the season for young Brazilian Oscar, who was preferred ahead of the two-time Chelsea Player of the Year winner, Juan Mata.

January 2014 saw Manchester United crash out of 2 domestic competitions and also suffer 4 defeats in their last 5 matches. It was very imminent that some drastic measures would be taken and a record-signing in Juan Mata is an indication of the same. Will Juan Mata will be answer to Manchester United’s problems, only time will tell. But this has certainly lifted the spirits among the fans and surely will be a huge boost to the team’s morale too.
