The world of football has seen some of the best players of the past announce their retirement in the recent past and English midfielder Frank Lampard joined the club this month.

The Chelsea legend, ended his playing career at the MLS, playing his last game for the New York City last year. In a recent statement to the press, he revealed that he was quitting the game.

‘After 21 incredible years, I have decided that now is the right time to finish my career as a professional footballer,’ it read.

He went on to reveal that he rejected offers to play for a couple of clubs even at the age of 38 and went on to say that he was happy with his decision.

‘While I have received a number of exciting offers to continue playing at home and abroad, at 38 I feel now is the time to begin the next chapter in my life,’ he added.

The midfielder made his England debut in 1999 and went on to win 106 caps, scoring 29 goals. He was voted England Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005.

In his 13 years at the Stamford Bridge, he won 13 top flight trophies and went on to become the highest goals scorer for the club. He won the Champions League and the Premier League in his time in England and is one of the most decorated players in world football.

And it is now understood that the midfielder has turned down offers from Swansea, West Brom and Brighton and also a club from China and that he is ready to start his coaching career.

A report from the Daily Star reveals that Manuel Pellegrini, the former Manchester City boss, wanted him in the CSL but Lampard is now ready to be a part of the domestic circuit in England.

The Daily Mail has today claimed that the FA is now open to adding Lampard to their coaching staff.
The FA’s technical director Dan Ashworth has already spoken to Lampard about his plans with the latest meeting scheduled right after the player announced his retirement.

It is understood that Lampard is still completing his coaching qualifications and that the FA will allow him to use St George’s Park as he looks to secure the required badges before he can take up the coaching job.

His former club Chelsea are not likely to let him go easily and are also keen on getting him back to the Stamford Bridge. They are happy to wait till he gets his badges but are plotting to give the 38-year old an ambassadorial role at the club for the long term.

Having scored more than 300 goals at club level, Lampard knows everything about the English football and will be a great addition to the domestic circuit.

Do you think Lampard should move back to Chelsea are join the FA’s coaching set-up in the future?
