Gerrard, earlier this week recalled his tussles with the Everton fans from over the years and one last message ahead of his last Merseyside Derby: “Bring it On”. Gerrard revealed that, his move to the MLS does not mean Everton fans can have it easy against him even if for the very last time.
Gerrard Said: “It’s the fixture that I look for at the beginning of the season,” Gerrard told Liverpoolfc.com. “I love playing against Everton. I’ve got friends and family members who are big Blues and it’s all about the bragging rights in the city.
“I’ll focus on [Saturday’s game] exactly how I have done in the previous derbies I’ve played in. It’s a bit different from a normal league game, but I’m looking forward to that one and hopefully I can add to my good derby record.”

Liverpool 3-2 Everton – April 1999
Steven Gerrard came on as a substitute and it was his Merseyside Derby debut. Evern though Gerrard did not score or created a goal but Gerrard made a crucial goal-line clearance to help Liverpool secure a 3-2 victory. Had it not for Gerrard, Liverpool would have drawn the game that day.
Liverpool 0-1 Everton – September 1999
Steven Gerrard was young once and he showed his rush of blood when he was sent off in his second Merseyside Derby only. Despite coming on as a substitute Gerrard made a reckless tackle on Everton’s Kevin Campbell which ultimately resulted in Liverpool loosing the game.
Everton 1-3 Liverpool – September 2001
This was the moment when Gerrard’s impressive Goal-Scoring against Everton started. Gerrard scored the vital equalizer with his shot coming across the face of the goal and that was the turning point in the game for Liverpool and the reds went on to seal the win with a 3-1 score line.
Liverpool 2-1 Everton – March 2005
Now was the time for Steven Gerrard to score his first Merseyside Derby goal at Anfield and it was 20-yard screamer. Gerrard scored his typical wonder goal to give the Liverpool the lead on the day and ended the game with a 2-1 victory.
Liverpool 3-1 Everton – March 2006
Steven Gerrard will be remembered best in this game for his tackle on Kevin Kilbane which saw the Liverpool captain get his second and last Merseyside Derby red card. Pleasing thing for Gerrard was that, his red card was not the decisive factor for Liverpool as his team ran out a comfortable 3-1 winners in the end.
Liverpool 3-0 Everton – Mar 2012
Steven Gerrard was the hat-trick hero for Liverpool on the day with his three memorable strikes. Gerrard became the first man since Ian Rush to score a hat-trick in this fixture. As a captain this would rank up there with the best moments he has had as a Liverpool player.
Everton 3-3 Liverpool – Nov 2013
This was perhaps the best Merseyside derby played in recent years and Gerrard was at the heart of it from first whistle till last. This game saw the balance shift from one side to the other. Everton looked like winning the game with Lukaku;s double strike in the second half but a resurgence from Gerrard and Co. earned a draw for Liverpool. Gerrard on the night had registered two assists to his name.

It is almost fitting we have gone with 8 best Merseyside moments for Steven Gerrard as he truly own that #8 jersey and for this iconic moment we have picked his last Merseyside Derby goal till now and what a goal it was too, curling pass Tim Howard to give Liverpool the lead on the night. Gerrard’s goal was cancelled on the night by Jagielka’s goal but Gerrard left his mark on the game with that memorable free-kick.
Quite a legacy Gerrard will leave behind when he walks away from the Premier League to move to the Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy.
