Gianluigi Buffon joins Italy group training

Montpellier (France), June 21 (IANS) Veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon joined Italy’s last training session here on Tuesday before travelling to Lille, where they will face Ireland in the last group stage match of Euro football championship on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old captain of the Italian national team, who had a fever on Sunday, did not train on Monday, reports Efe.

It is not expected that Juventus icon Buffon will start against Ireland as chief coach Antonio Conte can give a chance to Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu as Italy have already secured qualification for the pre-quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Antonio Candreva, who suffered a right foot injury, continues his recovery plan so that he can play in the last 16 match on June 27.
