The North London club bought Perez from La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna after activating the £17 million release clause in Perez’s contract and look to have fended off competition from Everton.
Perez impressed last season after finding the back of the net 17 times in La Liga for struggling Deportivo which shows his quality. He is expected to end Arsenal’s inconsistent performance in front of the goal as French striker Olivier Giroud has failed to perform consistently.
Having missed out on primary transfer target Alexandre Lacazette due to Lyon’s reluctance to sell for less than €55m, Arsene Wenger finally switched his attention to 27-year-old Perez. And after a lot of speculations, the Gunners secured his signings.
Another signing Shkodran Mustafi, the centre-back, who was bought from Valencia for £35 million, is also expected to join the Gunners shortly. The former Everton defender will be a much needed defensive boost for the Gunners, having been one of the top defenders in the La Liga last season.
Meanwhile, after failing to win the opening two games, Arsenal finally tasted victory in the new season on Saturday when they won 3-1 away to Watford, and will look to build on the momentum after the international break with a couple of quality signings.
