Antonio Habas, the Spanish coach of Athletico De Kolkata (ATK) is hopeful that his new boys will deliver a much better show than the team’s performance in the last season in spite of the fact that ATK clinched the inaugural ISL title.

Habas, speaking on the occasion after finishing the team’s training at the Mohun Bagan ground on Friday, said, “I am optimistic that Hedler Postiga will be able to deliver his best this time. It was true that Luis Garcia had an impressive show in the League last season. But as he was aged, I wanted a marquee footballer whose age would not be more than 35. So Postiga had been chosen. But apart from him there are also a few other footballers who have joined the squad for the first time and their performance in the training in Madrid as well as in the couple of friendly matches were also noticeable.”

Commenting on the team’s opening match against Chennayin FC in the second edition of ISL, Habas said, “The team is a balanced side and we have to be careful.” But at the same time, the Spanish coach refused to mention names of Fikru Tefera and Edel Bete, who had a major role in ATK’s success in the last season.”

But this time Habas gave hints that his boys might play more attacking brand of football than they played in the last season. He told, “The style actually depends on the quality of players you have in hand. And this time we have a few players with whom you can think of playing attacking brand of football. Now let us see what happens.” ATK will be playing a friendly match against Aryan Club on Sunday.

Habas however, is also happy with the change of turf at the Salt Lake Stadium this time. He said, “I always like grass turf. I hope that the quality of our game will be better this time due to the grassy turf.”
