Stoke City are closing in on a loan signing for Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi, according to ESPN FC sources.
The Dutch international has been linked with Liverpool earlier in the summer is apparently not in coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans this season.
The 24-year old was one of the most talented young defenders when he moved to Porto after an impressive 2014 world cup. He managed to build on his game at the Portuguese club. He can play both as a central defender as well as left back. He also played as right back at times which makes him an excellent option for Klopp to have for the current season.
ESPN FC Sources confirm that the Dutch international has flown to England to talk to the clubs that are interested in him and Stoke City are apparently favorites to sign the defender.
The versatile defender has emerged as one of the top targets for Stoke City as the club are looking to bolster their central defense before the close of the transfer window.
Stoke City boss Mark Hughes have already expressed his desire to sign a central defender earlier and have tried to lure Phil Jones from Manchester United and Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool. However, the Potters have failed to land both Phil Jones and Sakho but they in pole position to land the Dutch defender on a season-long loan to solve their defensive crisis.
