Huge: Liverpool Open Transfer Talks With Star Play-maker After Barcelona And PSG Approach

The loss to Swansea at home has put a severe dent in the title hopes of Liverpool who are now sitting at the 4th place in the points table, 10 points off Chelsea at the summit.

The manager will know that his squad needs a bit of an improvement to have any chance at the Premier League title this season but he will also be aware that he will have to tie players already in the squad to long-term contracts to try and keep them at the club for years to come.

One such player who is extensively linked with a move away from the club recently is midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The impact player in the squad for Liverpool, Coutinho, is arguably one of the most exciting players in his position in Europe at the moment. He started the season in fine form, scoring and assisting plenty of goals for a fluid attack for Liverpool, and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

His exploits at Anfield has seen him constantly linked with a move to Barcelona with the Spanish giants actively looking for a player who could replace Iniesta for the next season.

Coutinho has what it takes to replace the legendary midfielder and Liverpool are now afraid of losing him at the end of the season and are set to take evasive steps.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp is now desperate to sign Coutinho for the long term at Anfield.

The 24-year old has 6 goals and 5 assists to his name this season and has been in fine form for the Reds. His contract at Anfield runs till 2020 but Klopp does not want to take a chance and is now looking to offer a new, improve contract to the star in the upcoming days.

The Brazil playmaker currently earns £75,000 a week at Liverpool and it is understood that Klopp is ready to offer him a substantial improvement on his wages to make him one of the highest-paid players in the world.

Talks with the agent’s representatives are already on and it is understood that Liverpool are not too keen on a buyout clause in his contract.

They are confident that Coutinho will sign the deal and that they will not have to work too hard to keep him at the club.

So Barcelona and PSG, two of the suitors for Coutinho from Europe will have to act quickly if they are to steal him away from Anfield.

What do you think Coutinho deserves to earn at Liverpool?
