Arsenal search for a quality centre-back continues as reports suggest that Gunners have scouted AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas in yesterday’s Champions League clash against Porto.
The Gunners are keen to sign a defender this summer after facing severe blow with their central defenders Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista. The Londoners are linked with the likes of Jose Fonte, Gimenez and Marcel Tisserand earlier.
Arsene Wenger is keen to line up a bid for the talented defender as Shkodran Mustafi’s deal is delayed further as the chances of signing the German defender are getting bleaker as days pass by.
The Gunners are looking for alternatives to Mustafi with only a week to go and the search have become more intense to sign a talented defender.
The Greek international has been under Arsenal radar for the past two years but the Gunners have failed to seal the deal earlier. However, Arsenal have stepped up their interest to sign the 25-year old as they sent scouts to Roma’s Champions League qualifier against Porto.
With Roma knocked out from Champions League, Wenger believes he could lure the player away from Italian capital to England’s capital. The Greek defender has also drawn interest from the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea earlier.
