According to latest reports in France, Manchester United are trying to make a late swoop for AS Monaco defender Fabinho.
The 22-year old is one of the most linked targets of Manchester United this summer as Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing him to Old Trafford.
The Brazilian is expected to replace Matteo Darmian and could further strengthen Manchester United’s defense as Mourinho eyes title triumph as he already made impact signings this summer.
When asked about his future at Monaco earlier this week, Fabinho have not ruled out the transfer suggested he might stay at the club for this season.
“With the Champions League, it’s not bad staying at Monaco,” he told L’Equipe. “I’m not certain of staying, but at the same time, there’s more of a chance of me staying than leaving.”
Jose Mourinho had previously worked with Fabinho during his time at Real Madrid but the Brazilian was only featured for the ‘B’ team at Real Madrid.
His successor at Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti has sent Fabinho on loan to French giants AS Monaco where the player has evolved before sealing a permanent move last season as he scored eight goals in all competitions for the club during 2015-16.
It is also understood that Monaco are also willing to sell the player if Manchester United can offer £25 million to secure the services of the 22-year old Brazilian international. Also, Fabinho has the same agent as Jose Mourinho which could make the deal get done in these last few hours.
