Barcelona’s right-back Dani Alves has insisted that he did not sign a pre-contract agreement with any club and claims that he is solely focusing on the current season.
The right-back have drawn interest from the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. The player’s agent revealed that the contract offered by Barcelona’s management was “unsatisfactory”.
The 31-year old, however, is happy at Barcelona and not thinking about leaving the Spanish giants. The defender’s contract at the Catalan club is set to expire at the end of June this year.
“I am very happy at Barcelona and I have not signed with anyone,” he told BeIn Sports.
“In life, you have to be thankful. Barca are a club that changed my life, made me realise all my dreams. I’ll get to the end of my contract with the same ambition as when I came here.
“If the club asks me to look for another alternative, then I’ll look at the other options. But for now, this is not the case. I stay focused on the end of the season because I’m still a competitor. A decision will be made at the end of the season.”
Last week the player’s agent Dinorah Santana have said that her client have rejected the contract for a three-year extension which will see him feature in 60 percent of the matches played by Barcelona.
She said, “The negotiations are over. If they say this is the final offer, then they (negotiations) are over. It doesn’t make sense. It’s very hard that we get to April and Barcelona haven’t thought about renewing Dani’s contract.”
