Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has confirmed that there has never been any possibility of a move to Arsenal, The 27-year-old Frenchman also admits that he still laughs about the rumours when surrounded by his friends.

Benzema was again linked with a transfer to the Emirates during the summer transfer window. Wenger identified the striker as the primary target but a successful deal never materialised. Moreover, the striker has now revealed he is quite amused by the never ending speculation, confirming he has no intention of leaving the Spanish capital right now.

In an interview with Journal du Dimanche, when asked if he had made any plan to swap Madrid for the Gunners, he replied directly: “Never. Like every summer, I laugh about it with my brother and my friends. We wait for the media to come out with these rumours.

“In my opinion, I think that Real and Barca are the pinnacle in football. Why would I leave? I’m a starter for the best club in the world. I am happy; it’s that simple.”

Benzema, who joined Real Madrid from Lyon for a stunning €35-million transfer fee in the 2009 summer, has bagged six La Liga goals in this season. Although there are rumours that Benzema is not happy under new boss Benitez as he is frustrated with being substituted regularly.

Presently the Striker is fully focused on Wednesday’s Champions League away game against PSG but has some fitness concern. He was injured during international duty and is trying his best to get back to full fitness, I’m doing everything in my power to come back as soon as possible. I’m working hard to be available to play in Wednesday’s match in Paris, but I don’t want to rush things. We know it’s going to be difficult against them. PSG have grown used to these sorts of occasions now and up their game in the Champions League. Our goal is to finish top of the group.”
