Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has agreed on a new three-year deal and so will stay at San Sito until 2019.

In a press conference, he replied that there were no problems renewing his contract.

“My renewal?” Handanovic considered in a Press conference.

“I think when both sides want to reach an agreement there are no problems.”

Inter Milan are currently at the top of the Serie A table but they suffered defeats to Fiorentina and and Lazio in the first half of the season.
The humble goalkeeper accepts that it was his mistake which cost Milan the game.

“When we lost to the Viola it was my fault. With Lazio, there were many things which didn’t allow us to have our usual focus.

“They were under pressure, and when that’s the case you have to be even more ready. My only regret is that we couldn’t get a point,

that game was a useful learning experience.

The former Slovenia international has been with Inter Milan since 2012 and renewed his contract which was due to expire at the end of this season.

The goalkeeper will remain with Inter Milan for the next three and a half seasons as a result of this renewal and it augers well because of the excellent form that he has been this season.

He has conceded just 11 goals in 17 games which has helped the team to sit comfortably on top of the Serie A table.

The ex-Udinese player also has the highest save percentage in Italy with 61 saves till now this season which corresponds to a staggering 84.5% efficiency, achieved in 17 appearances!

Manchester United have been watching him closely since a long time and were trying to bring him to Old Trafford, but with this renewal, all hopes have to be given up since Samir is already 31 years old.

Roberto Mancini also reserved a word of praise for other Inter goalkeepers.

“If it depended on me, I would also get Rodrigo Palacio’s and Yuto Nagatomo’s contracts renewed — they’re outstanding professionals.

With many options to choose from, it would be exciting to see how Inter hold on to their lead.
