Manchester United have been handed a timely boost ahead of the final two months of the season as it has emerged Paul Pogba is set to return from injury ahead of schedule.
Pogba was substituted during United’s 1-0 Europa League second leg win over FC Rostov earlier this month after pulling up with a hamstring injury, forcing him to miss the win at Middlesbrough as well as France’s games in the current international break.
However, Pogba is in the process of making a speedy recovery from the problem and according to the Mirror, he may well be fit and able to return for United’s fixture with Everton at Old Trafford on April 4.
Manager Jose Mourinho had blamed Pogba’s injury on an “accumulation of fatigue” but is now set to see the world’s most expensive player back in action sooner than expected.
United are however wary of rushing the former Juventus man back before he’s 100% fit, and will make a call closer to the time of the game over whether he’s ready to return. If there are any doubts, Mourinho could hold off selecting him and wait instead for United’s trip to Sunderland five days later.
There’s little doubt now however over Pogba’s availability for the Europa League last eight first leg with Anderlecht, and for the home fixture with Chelsea on April 16.
Pogba has featured in 41 of United’s 48 games this season so far, contributing seven goals and five assists in all competitions.
