The 16th match of the Indian Super League played between Delhi Dynamos and North East United yesterday 29th October 2014 was a draw at the Jawharlal Nehru Stadium(JLN) in New Delhi. When we entered the ground around 05:45 the stadium was half full already. Most of the spectators were supporting North East United. The entire atmospehre was noisy with slogans like “Delhi Delhi”, “North East North East”.

In the first half, both of the teams were trying but were not able to convert chances. Delhi Dynamos missed a chance in the 5th minute of the match. A total of four chances were missed in the first half each team sharing 2 missed chances each. The credit must go to an excllent display by both of the goalkeepers as they save all the efforts of the opponent team. The best chance came for Delhi Dynamos in the 38th minute from the free kick when the keeper held the ball in the hand. The first half ended in a 0-0

The second half was more cautiously played as both of team defense displayed high alterness and did not allow the strikers to score the goals. One yellow card was awarded to the North East United player. Scoring goals was a difficult task for both of the teams. Both of the teams tried with fresh players as subtitutes(2 each) but nothing changed in the results and the match ended in a 0-0 draw. Both of the teams were awarded 1 point each.

All in all it was a well contested match. For Delhi Dynamos Alexandro Del Piero was outstanding and for North East United Tomas Johl was outstanding apart from both of the goalkeepers.

It was a tense match as Delhi wanted to win this match as they wanted to take a lead at home ground but they did not succeed. They have now three draws from four matches so far and are in fourth position with 6 points in the standing after yesterday match. North East is in number 3 in point’s tally(8). First position is held by Kolkatta(11) followed by Chennai(9).

Overall the match provided excitment and entertainment, with end result of the match a fair draw. It was great to such support in the stadium for the Indian super league match. This will help the players to perform much better in the coming matches and organziers a morale booster in the coming matches.3
