FC Goa beat Chennaiyin FC 3-1 and become the second team to qualify for the Semi-finals of the Indian Super League.

With this win FC Goa have confirmed their place in the last four with 21 points along with Chennaiyin FC who have already qualified. Three goals from Romeo Fernandes, Andre Santos and Miroslav Slepicka won the game 3-1 for FC Goa. Jean Edu Maurice scored a consolation goal for Chennaiyin FC in the last minute.

Chennaiyin FC made three changes for the game – Shilton Paul, Bruno Pelissari and Jayesh Rane start in place of Bracigliano, Dhana and Balwant Singh. FC Goa are unchanged for this match.

Chennaiyin FC were dominating the game at the beginning with a fine attacking display. Bruno Pelissari drives one towards the right post but Jan Seda dives and makes a comfortable save. Cristian Mendoza takes a smart touch to get away from the defender,then runs with the ball and takes a right footed shot, but Jan Seda dives in full length to send it out for a corner.

Mendy smacks Andre Santos on his leg to bring the Brazilian down, the referee gives him a yellow card. Then the two sides argue with each other and the referee gives Mendoza a yellow card too for his behavior.

FC Goa take the lead with a Romeo Fernades goal. A brilliant left footed strike by Amiri which comes out after hitting the inside of the crossbar. It falls to Denson Devadas but is taken away from his feet allowing Romeo Fernandes to smash it in past the goal keeper Shilton Paul.

Chennaiyin FC try to make a counter-attack but Pelissari is brought down by Bikramjit and Suarez takes a shot at goal, but is saved by Seda. The Shots were flying in all directions from the Chennai side and Mendy had already made three attempts. Andre Santos takes a stunning free kick from the right flank as he curls it in brilliantly and it strikes the far post and goes out.

Andre Santos makes it 2-0 for FC Goa five minutes before the half time. Amiri heads the ball for Miroslav Slepicka who takes a touch to set Andre Santos free inside the box and Santos makes a left-footed shot to beat Shilton Paul. The visitors were well set to give Chennaiyin FC their first home loss.

Chennaiyin FC started the half on a positive note but the visitors pulled back things in grand fashion. The home side needed to score twice to equal the goal tally. Goa looked calm under pressure and are hold on to their possession well while Chennai have been resurgent after conceding the first goal and are carrying the ball out and trying to muscle their way in.

Chennaiyin FC made two changes at the beginning of second half as Balwant Singh came in for Jayesh Rana and Bojan Djordic came in for Eric Djemba-Djemba,who looked in discomfort as he holds his groin.

Goa still looked lethal on the counter and a good run on the right wing by Narayan Das nearly found the perfect pass from the byline but it was narrowly missed Mandar at the near postwho was a tad late to react.

Chennai had made their all three changes before 60 minutes as Jean-Edu Maurice came in for Bruno Pelissari as their last substitute.

Miroslav Slepicka made it 3-0 and he just cannot stop scoring. Narayan Das took a good shot on goal which forces Shilton to make a diving save but the ball goes straight to Miroslav Slepicka who taps it in to give his side a peerless lead.

Chennai created many chances but the efforts are way wide of the target. A corner that was gifted to the home side and Mendy took the shot from way out but the ball goes out of the park.

FC Goa made first change as Clifford Miranda replaced Mandar Rao Desai, minutes later they brought in Jewel Raja in place of goal scorer Romeo Fernandes. Miroslav Slepicka made way for Youness Bengelloun in the ending minutes of the game.

Jean Edu Maurice scores a consolation goal in the stoppage time for Chennaiyin FC. Maurice slides this one through the charging goalkeeper Seda’s legs. That was the last play of the game and Chennaiyin FC managed to score one to deny a clean sheet to Goa.

Both teams have one game remaining now as FC Goa play Atletico de Kolkata in Kolkata and Chennaiyin FC play Delhi Dynamos at home.
