Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere has trained ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray at the Emirates.

Jack Wilshere was injured against Tottenham in the North London derby at the Emirates and was subbed off in the second half, but according to reports the midfielder has an outside chance to make it to the starting XI against Galatasaray at the Emirates. Arsene Wenger who has already lost Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Debuchy, Nacho Monreal, Abou Diaby, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott to injury. Aaron Ramsey is out for six weeks due to a hamstring injury and captain Mikel Arteta sidelined for three weeks.

Arsenal lost their opening fixture of the UEFA Champions League 2-0 against Borussia Dortmund and will now cannot afford to drop points against Galatasaray at the Emirates. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that Wilshere is in the squad, but he might not start against Galatasaray.

He said: “He is in the squad for tomorrow, whether I start him or not I don’t know yet but he is in the squad.

“I have left (Abou) Diaby out as well because he is not completely there yet.

He added ” Walcott is joining in full training I think ( he may be back) next week which is very good news.”

The North London derby ended 1-1 at the Emirates, Nacer Chadli opened the scoring for Tottenham in he 56th minute and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain equalised for Arsenal to avoid a home defeat to local rivals. Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey picked up an injury in the first half of the game and were forced to leave the field. 

“To be generous with time, four weeks. If all goes well, three. Arteta is the same, maybe a bit quicker. It will be after the international break,” he said.
