Arsenal’s injuries woes seem to be never ending as English star Wilshere who hasn’t played this season due to a broken leg, an injury he picked up in training day before the Community shield encounter is said to be recovering slowly and wouldn’t be available to the Gunners before February.
Having picked up the injury in the training session ahead of their Community Shield clash against Chelsea, Wilshere underwent surgery in September and was predicted to be back in action by Christmas. However the stars have not been in favour of the Englishman with Wenger admitting that he is not fully fit and will be back only in Febreuary. “He (Wilshere) will not be back before February, that’s for sure. I said February but honestly I don’t know. I let him do his recovery. It’s going slowly” further added the boss. This seriously hampers Wilshere’s chances of playing in the Euros next Summer as he hasn’t been back on the pitch and the reintegration process after an injury also requires time.
This is also a major setback for England who were looking forward to adding the Gunners star to their lineup in France. If Wilshere’s recovery continues at such a slow pace then Hodgson will most probably have to look for alternatives for the 23 year old. If the midfielder does not get a chance to feature in the Euros next year then who knows what the situation will be in the next four years!
Apart from Wilshere another major injury setback for Arsenal has been Danny Welbeck whose recovery too is taking longer than expected and would be back only in February. For Arsene Wenger his top stars, Wilshere, Cazorla, Coquelin and Welbeck will be out of action for most part of this campaign and that has prompted the Frenchman to scout the market for suitable replacements. But the boss also admits that he is not very keen on splurging in January as for him the solution to all their problems is well within the team. “We are a bit short, I agree with you, because of the injuries we have. But sometimes as well the solution is inside and you have to accept that.We are a club which has always given a chance to players we have educated. People forget that sometimes and always want new faces. But we are a club with a tradition on that front as well and we have top players inside” said the Frenchman.
