Manchester United are amongst the biggest spenders in the summer transfer window.
The club, having achieved to sign Jose Mourinho to take charge of the club, has managed to spend around £145m this summer but have seen just two players leave the club for a combined fee of £5.5m in Paddy McNair and Donald Love in the transfer window.
The Portuguese manager has added lots of quality to his attack and midfielder. Though his first signing in Eric Bailly will provide defensive stability, it is now understood that the manager is looking for yet another big money signing to get in a top class defender ahead of the next season.
The likes of Leonardo Bonucci and Rafael Varane were linked with a move to the club recently but recent reports have now suggested that the Old Trafford hierarchy are not ready to spend big again.
It is now revealed that Jose Mourinho, the new manager at the club has been told to sell players from the squad for the funds needed for his additions.
Manchester United are surely a bit weak in defense with no settled center back pairing but if the manager wants to get another big name to the squad to complete his art at Old Trafford, he will have to sell the player and sell them quickly with less than 20 days left in the transfer market.
This has reportedly seen the manager throw 10 new names into the transfer market with Adnan Januzaj, Daley Blind, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Juan Mata the most high profile.
The 21-year old Belgian is linked with a move to Sunderland while Schweinsteiger will have to lower his wages to find a potential club. Daley Blind is also reportedly closing in on a move to Inter Milan this summer.
One Juan Mata whose career at the club now seems over is linked with a move to Merseyside outfit Everton.
United are reportedly ready to sell for £37.1m, the price they paid for him to Chelsea and it is now understood that a deal might be struck in the coming days.
It will be interesting to see how Mourinho proceeds in the transfer window with the Premier League set to start in a day’s time.
Do you think Mourinho needs another addition in defense and needs to sell star players this summer?
