Just when you thought Jose Mourinho is done for this week in terms of pulling out surprising quotes and statements, he bettered himself by announcing to the world that Diego Costa and Gary Cahill will be available for the community Shield clash against Arsenal.
Speaking ahead of the game, Mourinho confirmed his key striker and defender will be available for the Sunday’s clash after suffering injuries in the game against Barcelona.
Mourinho said: ‘All good,’ Mourinho said. ‘There are no concerns, no protections (for Costa). We have three top strikers. I’m not worried. No problem.’
The Portuguese coach comes head-to-head with familiar foe Arsene Wenger at Wembley and despite the fixture’s official billing as a friendly, Mourinho says he wants to win.
Mourinho was not shying away from taking a jibe at Arsenal and Arsene Wenger as he claimed how winning the game against Arsenal has never added to his qualities of being special.
Mourinho said: ‘I’ve never made a special thing about wins over Arsenal. I don’t explode with happiness when I beat them, and I won’t make drama when I lose.’
The game on Sunday will perhaps decide the fate of next year’s premier league title winners as a win in the Community Shield would give the winning side a massive advantage.
