Manchester United manager is ready to sell Anthony Martial to free up the funds as the club looks to make massive signings in summer, according to reports.
The Red Devils are one of the biggest clubs in the world in financial terms but are also the most debt-ridden club as they look to fall in compliance with UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations. The club are heavily linked with the likes of Antoine Greizmann and Ivan Perisic as Jose Mourinho is ready to spend big yet again this summer.
Anthony Martial could be the first names to leave the club this summer as he has failed to break into the first team under Jose Mourinho this season. The 21-year old has struggled this season but have had a great debut season under Louis van Gaal last season when he arrived in a staggering £58million move from Monaco in 2015.
Martial have not even started half of the United games in the season and his place could be threatened if Manchester United can manage to pull off the signings of Perisic or Griezmann in summer as he never seemed settled under Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese tactician has banished the Frenchman to bench since the start of the season despite his impressive performances in the limited chances throughout the season. The duo has also fallen during mid-season when Jose Mourinho criticised Martial about his “lack of winning mentality” in public which caused a stir in Manchester United dressing room.
The Frenchman have managed 42 appearances for Red Devils across all competitions, the majority of them as an impact substitute. He has scored eight goals and played a hand with eight assists for the club as he remained a threat whenever he got an opportunity.
However, the lack of playing time this season could pave way for the Frenchman to leave the club as he is heavily linked with a move back to France with both Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco linked. The sale of Martial would surely free up funds for Jose Mourinho as he is one of the best young strikers in Europe who has been heavily utilised by the club this season.
