Jose Mourinho Updates Staff On Antoine Griezmann Transfer

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has told his staff at the club that Antoine Greizmann is not yet close to being sealed, according to reports.

The Atletico Madrid striker is one of the major players that are available in the market and there is a huge interest to sign him from the top clubs across Europe. However, Los RojiBlancos are nor yet ready to let their star man leave as they are determined to keep him at the club next season.

Among the clubs that are chasing the signing of the Frenchman, Manchester United are believed to be the front-runners as they have reportedly agreed to personal terms with the striker back in January.

According to the Independent, the Red Devils could finalise a world record deal for the 26-year old by the end of June. But Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is not so confident over the deal and have reportedly confided to his staff that they will need to shell out more money to seal the deal to land the talented striker.

Meanwhile, Griezmann is also in a conundrum as he is yet to decide his future and is thinking about committing his future to Atletico for the next season. The Spanish club is also ready to double up his wages in a new deal which will see him earn a massive £12 million a year.

Atletico Madrid is currently serving one year ban imposed by FIFA earlier and has appealed it as they await the result. Should the club’s appeal fail and the original decision stands then it is only going to get tougher for Manchester United to pull the deal off as Atletico will be resistant to let Griezmann leave at least until next summer.

A decision over Atletico’s appeal is expected to be revealed on Thursday and it could play a huge part in Manchester United’s transfer plans. The Red Devils will be without a proven striker upfront next season when they face elite clubs in Champions League and Jose Mourinho is determined to bring in a new striker to replace injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
