Manchester United’s Spanish attacking midfielder Juan Mata has stated that the Red Devils have set their prime target to win the English Premier League this season and he believes that, It is what the fans deserve.

Manchester United won the ultimate prize in English football last in 2012-13 season which was the last season of legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in charge at the Old Trafford. The red devils hold the record for winning the League most number of times with 20 trophies in their cabinet.

Manchester United fans saw the team having a hard time the next season under David Moyes and finishing the season at the seventh position in the League table.

Dutch experienced manager Louis Van Gaal then took charge from the Scottish and guided the team to secure the fourth position in 2014-15 season.

Manchester United have made four new signings in this transfer window in the form of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin and more actions are yet to happen from what it seems from the recent activities.

Manchester United are currently in USA for their pre season preparations and opened their pre season with a 1-0 victory over Mexican side Club America with new signing Morgan Schneiderlin on the score sheet.

Manchester United players celebrate Schneiderlin's goal

The 27 year old Spanish took his time to face SKY SPORTS HQ and he said, We all believe that we need to do one more step forward and try to fight for the title because that’s what this club means – fighting for trophies.

It’s the pressure this club always has. We know that we have to be fighting for titles.

The 27-year-old added: We feel this is what the fans deserve because it’s amazing how they support us. We want to do it for them, and hopefully this season we’ll do it.

New midfield signings Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger both made their debuts in the game, but Mata says he is not too concerned about potentially losing his place in the side.

When you play for a top team, you always know you have to be at your best level to play, the Spaniard said. There is a lot of competition for the spots in the first XI, but I believe in myself.

If you play for a team like Manchester United, you’re always going to have competition.

Mata’s team-mate Phil Jones has also talked up United’s title chances, saying: We have the squad now to be able to do that and there is no reason why we can’t.
