Jurgen Klopp Admits Sadio Mane Injury ‘Doesn’t Look Good’ For Liverpool

  • There is concern growing over an injury sustained by Liverpool’s Sadio Mane during their 3-1 win over Everton today.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told BBC 5 Live: “I’ve met Mane in the dressing room. It doesn’t look too good.”

In the post-match press conference, Klopp added that his player is unlikely to be available for Wednesday night’s clash against Bournemouth:

“Hopefully it’s not that serious, but of course it’s not nothing and that makes our life not easier, I would say.

“I don’t want to speculate now. Obviously he has pain and it didn’t look like it’s only a knock or a muscle or something, but we have to wait.

“When I came in I was looking for him immediately and I saw him on the bed. He’d already had treatment, and it didn’t look like he felt really comfortable.”

Mané was taken off after suffering a leg injury, following a clash with Everton’s Leighton Baines. After receiving treatment, the Senegal international was substituted for Divock Origi.

Mane opened the scoring today with an 8th minute goal to give Liverpool an early lead. Everton’s Matthew Pennington cancelled out the strike a few moments later before Philippe Coutinho restored the home side’s lead.

Origi then hit the insurance goal after his introduction, to see Klopp’s side move up to third on the table.
