As the Premier League resumes this weekend after a week long international break, a new look Liverpool under manager Jurgen Klopp will visit North London to take on Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager took charge of Liverpool as the manager of the club last week after Brendan Rodgers was sacked. Liverpool are struggling in the Premier League as they have managed to stick to 10th position in the league table.
Jurgen Klopp has started training sessions at the club and the players have joined him from the international break.
On Thursday, Klopp addressed the media ahead of the Spurs game. The German manager said: “We had three very good training [sessions] – the boys are really willing to listen and understand what we want.
“Everything would be better if we worked together for six weeks but it’s not a perfect world. It’s no problem.
“The most important thing now is to train as often and as long as possible and not think about expectations outside.
“We have to be very active. We have to be ready to work, to enjoy the game. We play against a very, very good team.”
Jurgen Klopp confirmed at the press conference that young defender Joe Gomez has sustained an ACL injury. “We have to wait for further diagnosis”, he said.
The manager also revealed that star striker Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino are close to returning but are both unlikely to feature at Spurs on Saturday.
Klopp added: “I told the players of course I’m here because Liverpool FC is a great club but also because of them.
“It’s not important how many faults you make in a game, it’s important that nobody remembers after.”
Liverpool will look forward to register a win in Jurgen Klopp’s debut match in England. It will be interesting to see if Klopp can actually reform and rebuild the Reds and bring back glory days at Anfield.
