Jurgen Klopp Plans To End Career At Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has hinted he sees himself finishing his managerial career at Liverpool

The German signed a new contract last summer, committing to the Merseyside club for the next six years. That being said, Klopp is fully aware that he must bring glory in the form of silverware back to Anfield.

Speaking to German magazine Sport1, the 49-year-old expressed his feelings on his future in the game.

“I will not have been in charge of 10 different clubs once my managerial career is over.”

The ex-Mainz and Borrusia Dortmund boss continued:

“There is a not insignificant chance I will have coached three clubs. It is always quite easy for me to fully commit to what I am doing because they are often long-term projects.”

Under Klopp, the Reds have reached a League Cup final as well as the Europa League final but failed to come away victorious from either. The Anfield club have not won the league since 1990 and have this season seen Manchester United draw level with them on the list of all-time major honours when the Red Devils won the League Cup in February.

Finishing eighth last season was a disappointment for Klopp and ‘Pool fans alike. A top four spot this season meaning Champions League football next season and a natural greater attraction for top players to sign would be seen as significant progress made and give their supporters cause for hope and optimism that a genuine title challenge could take place next season. The manager added:

“If I fulfil my contract with Liverpool, then there is a good chance I will have won something here.

“I could be in an uncomfortable situation if we do not win anything. People expect Liverpool to win trophies.

“We can’t have any doubts, but rather work on making it one day. If you are convinced that the right folks work on it, then you can also believe in it. I believe that this joint effort makes it significantly more likely.”

The Reds face a tricky test at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday with the race for a top-four finish reignited by United’s win over Chelsea last weekend.
