Why Liverpool Are Not Signing New Players, Jurgen Klopp Has Epic Explanation

Contrary to the popular belief, Jurgen Klopp has said that he is looking to sign new players but is finding it tough to negotiate with the clubs who are refusing to sell their players midway through the season .

The calls to bring in new players have escalated by leaps and bounds after the Reds suffered a shocking defeat to Swansea City that has dealt a huge blow to their title hopes. The defeat has now left them 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea and any further poor result will surely end their title aspirations.

The Merseyside outfit is clearly struggling in the absence of Sadio Mane who is currently on national duty. Moreover, the defense has looked the weaker link since the start of the season and the club is yet to sign a new defender to bolster the leaky defense.

Speaking to The Guardian, the former Borussia Dortmund manager said: “I understand it is absolutely normal that people ask whether we should have brought players in.”

“The situation is yes, on the one side pretty simple, but on the other hand it is pretty difficult. It is not that we don’t want to bring players in. We do.

“But the thing is, the players we want because we think they help us, the clubs don’t sell. It is not about money in this situation, it is the winter transfer window. Clubs are saying ‘no, we have half a year to go, we cannot find another player like this, we prefer to take money in the summer than a few pounds more in the winter than whatever’.

“So it is pretty easy. You see the situation. It’s tight, it’s close, we know that, but if the right decision is not possible in signing the right player then you cannot make the wrong transfer,” he added.

At the same time, the German tactician also said that his current players have the ability to do well and he will sign a new player only after being fully convinced of his qualities.

“It is not as if there are 20 players out there who could make this team stronger, who are running around and are available,” he said.

“That is the situation. That is why I say we know the situation, we are prepared to move, but for the right player. We are not the only side who can decide the outcome of that, though, are we? The selling club makes the decision too.”

Meanwhile, the Reds would be looking to get their campaign back on track when they host Chelsea on Wednesday (February 1) . Jurgen Klopp’s men are yet to win in the Premier League this year and three points against the league leaders might give them the much-needed boost to keep their title hopes alive.
