Kashima Antlers Advance To Club World Cup Final

Osaka, Dec 14 (IANS) Japanese football club Kashima Antlers reached the FIFA Club World Cup final after beating Colombian club Atletico Nacional 3-0 in the semi-finals at the Suita City Stadium here on Wednesday.

This is the first time a Japanese club has reached the final of the competition, and the second time for the hosts to do so, after Raja Casablanca reached the final in Morocco in 2013. But they lost to Bayern Munich in the final, reports Efe.

Despite being dominated by the Colombian side in the first half, the Japanese came out victorious with a goal from Shoma Doi in the 33rd minute from a penalty kick, following two late goals in 83rd and 85th minutes respectively by Yasushi Endo and Yuma Suzuki.

Kashima will play the final next Sunday against the winner of Thursday’s match between Real Madrid and Club America.
