Liverpool defender Kolo Toure believes Mario Balotelli will come good for the Reds after his goal against Swansea City in the Capital One Cup. Mario Balotelli inspired the Reds to win 2-1 against Swansea City, after they were trailing 1-0. Balotelli came on in the second half and didn’t take too long to score. Dejan Lovren injury time winner sealed the win for Liverpool.

Kolo Toure told the Liverpool Echo that Mario will soon start scoring goals for Liverpool and for strikers “goals are like food”. He also thinks Balotelli is just lacking confidence and is a great player.

“For strikers, goals are like food,” he told the Liverpool Echo. “Mario needs to feed himself by scoring goals. Now he’s got that one he will do that now, definitely.

“Getting that goal will be fantastic for his confidence. He is a great player, he has just been lacking goals.

“Mario is my mate and I’ve tried to help him like Stevie [Gerrard], the manager and everyone else in the dressing room.

“We all know he’s a top player. I always tell him ‘you need to get out there and show you are one of the best players in the world’.

“He is one of the best. He has just been missing goals but they will come now.”

Liverpool have now qualified for the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup for the 20th time. They have won a record eight League Cups.
