League Cup Semi-Final: Manchester United vs Hull City Team News and Expected Lineups

After the intense weekend of the Premier League, Manchester United are back in action this week as they travel to the KCOM stadium to face Hull City in the 2nd leg of the semi-final of the League Cup this year.  The Red Devils managed to get a 2-0 lead in the first leg and are expected to push through to the final in a month’s time but Marco Silva, the Hull City manager, will go with his best side and might push United to the edge on the night. The winner of this game will face the winner of the 2nd semi-final between Liverpool and Southampton on Wednesday at Wembley and with such an occasion beckoning, both teams are set to be at their best on the night and are sure to provide some entertainment. Here is the team news and predicted lineup for Manchester United for this game:

Team News:

Manchester United do not have too many issues to worry about as Eric Bailly, who is busy at the AFCON, remains the only absentee for this game. Defender Marcos Rojo missed the previous game against Stoke with an illness but is expected to be back in action this week.

Expected lineup (4-3-3):

David de Gea:

The first choice shot stopper for Manchester United, De Gea, is right up there with the best in the league and should start this game for his side.

Antonio Valencia:

Arguably the best player in that position for United this season, Valencia, has been superb in the last few games for the side and should keep his place in the squad for this game.

Phil Jones:

Though not at his best at the weekend, Jones, is currently the first choice for Mourinho and he should stick with him for this semi-final.

Marcos Rojo:

Just coming back from an illness, Rojo, missed the game against Stoke and will hope to put in a good performance to win his place back in the squad.

Matteo Darmian:

With Daley Blind unable to cement a place in the starting XI and Luke Shaw completely forgotten, Mourinho is expected to go with Darmian for this game.

Ander Herrera:

Arguably the most consistent midfielder for United this season, Herrera, is integral to the plans of the manager and should start this game against the Tigers.

Paul Pogba:

The French sensation has been less than impressive for a while now but this is a perfect opportunity for him to make an impact on the season.

Michael Carrick:

An unused substitute in the previous game, Carrick, has helped United get the best out of their midfield and should start this crunch tie.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan:

The Armenian winger has not been consistent this season on the wing but Mourinho should stick with him for this trip to the KCOM.

Wayne Rooney:

Having broken the goal scoring record for United late in the previous game, Rooney, will be high on confidence and should be offered a start in this game.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

The Swede was ineffective in the game against the Potters but he will the biggest threat for Hull in this League Cup semi-final at home.

This is how they will lineup:
