“A Football club cannot exist without the fans. The minute you start ignoring them, the demise begins”

This season has been a Roller-Coaster ride for Manchester united and their supporters. Comfortable wins against Derby and Stoke city had given fans a glimmer of hope. But, a defeat against Sunderland is unacceptable, especially according to Manchester United’s standards.

The team has hit a “new low” and their form is going from bad to worse. Van Gaal’s side doesn’t look like a team which is ready to compete with the big boys and certainly not ready to make a run into the top 4 of the Premier League.

The manager has lost faith in himself and openly admits “It shall be very difficult to finish in the top four. I think after this match (against Sunderland), Europa League is the best route into the Champions League”.

Being the manager of such a big club, Van gaal is supposed to inspire his players to achieve greatness. But he seems to have given up long before them. The Dutchman admits “he cannot match the expectations of the club” few weeks back.

Time to face the reality. Running a Football club may be a business to Ed Woodward, the executive Vice Chairman of the club. Although he is doing a commendable job managing the commercial sphere of the club, he is completely insensitive towards interests of the fans. Football for the fans is an escape route from reality, it is a way of life.

Biggest fear for any Manchester United fan right now is, they don’t want to be the next Liverpool. They don’t want to live in the past and wait for something wonderful to happen every year. Fans of the club have made their intentions clear, which is “We Won’t Settle for Mediocrity”.

Act fast before it is too late. After all, What is Football without the fans, right?  Let’s hope someone “Special” takes charge of the club in the near future.
